So I caught Bag Raiders live a few months ago. It was super awesome, blah, etc. And they're back in NYC tonight. At Tammany Hall. With the Popshop crew. For whom I DJ once a month. And. I'm. Beyond. Excited. I'm going to black out on nostalgia and daydream about Australian girls for a solid two or three hours. Easily.
Anywho, here's a song. It's by Flight Facilities. It has nothing to do with Bag Raiders. But it's good. And I like it. Goodnight.
Fool's Gold is more or less flawless. Great music, great image, etc. Duck Sauce, blah, blah. Treasure Fingers, blah, blah. Lil B, blah, blah. Kid Cudi, blah, blah. Bag Raiders, blah, blah. Etc.
Let me explain. Those cats? All great. Fabulous, wonderful musicians. Love 'em to death. But today? Today's all about Kingdom. Or rather, yesterday was all about Kingdom (but I was too busy sitting in bed to write up a post). Dude's new single "Take Me" just dropped on F.G. and it's a massive summer banger. Naomi Allen of Electrik Red crushes the vocals, and the tune as a whole is on that serious sexy-time tip. Cop the full release here.
So I can't remember the last time I listened to Skee-Lo. Probably like 1996? Or '97? Christ, I dunno. Before the past week or so, that is. Because I've been rinsing "I Wish" on repeat of late. On the train. At my gigs. In my room. With my cat. Etc. Anywho, I tried to scrounge up the video for the cut, but all I could find on YouTube were ten trillion amateur hour homemade videos. If you've got as little to do with your life as I do, I highly suggest you check some of them out.
OK. Yea. So one of the last things I blabbed about before re-quitting Panda Toes was my love for Florrie. "I love Florrie, blah, blah, blah, she's so awesome, blah, blah, etc." Anyways, wifey released another video during my time away from y'all. "Experimenting with Rugs" is a fabulous little pop song. Florrie is a fabulous young lady. I'm a trite, lazy blogger. We'll leave it at that. And without further adieu, here's the (somewhat) new video:
OK, so Institubes is no longer a label. Yes, that's a big bummer. But fear not. Surkin, Para One, and Bobmo started a new label called Marble Players. Unsurprisingly, every Marble Players release to date has been fire.
Anyhow, the three founders teamed up to release MRBL005: Marble Summer. And as expected, the whole thing's bangin'. And as if the songs weren't fabulous enough, the crew had the dude Jerome from LOL Boys whip up a video for "Let You Go" (which just so happens to be my favorite track on the release). And per usual, Jerome goes off and shows us just how much better he is at the internet than the rest of us.
And then there's Canblaster. In case you haven't heard, Cedric kind of changes the game with everything he releases. He's. Just. That. Good. Anywho, the chap just dropped his Totem EP through Marble Players, and it's fire. God bless Marble Players. God bless Club Cheval.
If I had a nickel for every time I stopped and restarted Panda Toes, I'd have enough change to make quite a run at Coinstar. Hell, I was still using "swag" in a pre-ironic context when I wrote that David Banner post. Anyways, I quit my job to DJ full-time, so I don't really have anything to do other than blog. Christ, I even read a proper novel in the past two weeks. Do you understand how long it's been since I last read a real book? Since I last wasted that much time? So yea. Here I am. Again.
Anyways, not much has changed. I still love pop music. In particular, Calvin Harris's pop music. For example, his new song "Feel So Close"? It's awesome, right? Great to hear Calvin singing again. The video's not amazing. But like. Serviceable. Feel me? No hate. "Feel So Close" is a phenomenal little pop song. But the video? It's just not the "Ready for the Weekend" video, that's all I'm saying.
