Fast Life Yungstaz + Gramophonedzie + Peggy Lee

Since I last hollered at y'all, Fast Life Yungstaz have come out with yet another monster jam. I was convinced that their "Swag Surfin'" would be my summer anthem, but the strength of their "Party Time (Surf Party)" has me questioning my previous assessment. Yea, it's cheesy. In fact, a fellow blogger called it "Disney Channel Trap Music." But if you so much as tell me this isn't one of the catchiest tunes to hit your ears this summer, watch out for a slap upside the head.



And on a note less likely to tick off you elitist folk, check out Gramophonedzie's "Why Don't You?". The cut samples Peggy Lee's "Why Don't You Do Right?". So good. Seriously so, so good.

Daniela Hantuchova + Fast Life Yungstaz

Yo. So. I'm back. Went to Europe for ten days, escaped all things music and internet, watched the love of my life (Daniela Hantuchova) play some next level doubles at Wimbledon, etc. But now I'm back to the whole blogging and DJing thing that y'all know me for.

And in my expert opinion, there's no better way to kick things off than with some of my new favorite dudes - Fast Life Yungstaz. Their song "Swag Surfin'" is set to be a summer anthem (alongside "Little Secrets"), no question about it. And obviously it doesn't hurt that I'm pretty sure I just heard a Patty Mayonnaise name drop. The new video may or may not be more polished, but that whole we're-Universal-and-we-hate-embedding-videos thing really cramps my style, ya know?



P.S. The above pic features Daniela beating the pants off the young, female Andy Murray: Laura Robson. (And by "beating the pants off" I mean "scraping out at three set victory against.") Sorry, British readers.

P.P.S. Wikipedia is wildly creepy. After watching some chick named Melanie Oudin take down the hated Jelena Jankovic (at least she grinds my gears), I checked to see who in the world she was. And literally seconds after ESPN aired her victory, this had already appeared: "In her biggest win of her young career to date on June 27, Oudin defeated world #6 Jelena Jankovic, 6-7. 7-5. 6-2." Poor writing, impressive timing.

Wale + Skratch Bastid

So we've supported Wale since his monster of a "D.A.N.C.E." remix. And then there was "Nike Boots." Soon later, dude was releasing one of the most hyped mix tapes of the year - "The Mixtape About Nothing" - with Catchdubs and putting out singles with Lady Gaga.

And though I originally wasn't too hot on the latter ("Chillin'"), I'm now officially a fan. And had I not come to my senses and fallen in love with the cut before, I certainly would have gone for Skratch Bastid's new remix of it. Guetta + Rowland + Coldplay

So I'm pretty sure you've all heard David Guetta and Kelly Rowland's "When Love Takes Over" by now. You know, the cut that samples (or blatantly rips off - I'm not sure about the technicalities) Coldplay's "Clocks." And most of you elitist turds probably hate it for being enormously cheesy. And that puts you in the wrong. No subjectivity here - you're all just objectively incorrect. 'Cause this song is infectious, useful, etc. In other words, it's wildly fun, so get off your high horse and try to enjoy it.

The video, on the other hand, is absurd. (I guess the track's absurd as well, but the flick's absurd in a not-so-awesome way.) Yea, I 100% believe that dudes can just walk down a boardwalk, over hills, and onto the beach with a shopping cart full of outrageously expensive audio equipment without being either a) stopped by the police or b) knocked out and robbed. And of course a lovely lady can just parade about a highly public space in an elegant gown without being both a) ogled and b) heckled. Yeesh.



P.S. Guetta's true press pics are on an entirely different level (for better or for worse is your call to make) than pretty much any other artist featured here on Panda Toes.

P.P.S. Federer's really gotta pull this semifinal out. Del Potro v. Soderling would be such a bad look for tennis.

Three 6 Mafia + Damaged Good$ Pt. II

As was previously mentioned on these here pages, Three 6 Mafia will be performing at Dartmouth College. Tonight. As in Friday, May 22nd. The City of Hanover is nervous that the group's controversial lyrics will lead to rioting (or at least as close as our tiny pocket of New Hampshire can come to rioting). So nervous in fact that they're employing mad many police officers to contain the rambunctious folk. This is a testament to both a) how boring Hanover is and b) how awesome Three 6 Mafia are.



What's more, I'll be DJing for openers Damaged Good$. Dudes are remarkable performers, and their recorded stuff ain't half bad, either. If you're a Texan, be sure to catch the gents at one (or more) of their handful of upcoming Dallas dates. For the rest of you jokers, watch the guys tear up Tuscon. And Berlin. Random. Point being that dudes are set to kill it tonight. Photos to follow. Promise.



In other news, umma start slapping individuals if I don't hear Calvin Harris's "Ready for the Weekend" right quick. And maybe the Fake Blood remix. And on an entirely unrelated note that should certainly be part of a new paragraph, be sure to sneak a peak at the video for Bunny Holiday's (wait - who?) new track (produced by Pop Levi). Hilarious. So, so hip. All we're missing is some fixed gear bikes, dangling cigarettes, and Dunks. (Of course it doesn't hurt that there's a cute girl featured throughout.)

Classixx + Wiley + Platnum

Wow. So last weekend was huge. And I promise we'll get to that at some point, but for now let's just get back to the music + video + awesome, awesome writing formula that's carried us this far. We'll kick things off with the marvelous new track "I'll Get You" from Classixx. The video (directed by the Cobrasnake chap) is aight. I mean the girl's cute and all. And don't get me wrong - I'd be down to run around the beach and ride bikes with her (this despite my hatred of both a) running and b) biking), but the video just isn't exciting to me (I'm probably just being a brat - there's nothing in particular that's wrong with it). Still, the song's gorgeous. I wanna drive around New Hampshire listening to this on repeat this summer. Windows down, bandanna on, cassette loaded. Etc.



And on an entirely unrelated musical note, somebody's gotta help me find the following cut. The instrumental is murderous and Wiley goes bonkers on his verse. Not on Beatport, not on Juno, etc. Is this gonna be released? Perhaps it's been released already? Jeez. Debit card in hand, 100% ready to spend unreasonable amounts of money for this here tune. Just lemme know where I can do it. Please. Thanks.

Passion Pit + Keys 'n' Krates + A.T.C.Q.

O.K. Wow. I'm officially done with midterms. Not that I'll be posting any more frequently now - if anything, I'll be writing less 'cause I'll be drinking instead of finding new and exciting ways to procrastinate in the library. But still. I feel as though it's my civic duty to share with you leeches a couple of tracks that helped me get through my tedious, trite studies, the first of which is Passion Pit's upcoming summer anthem (if properly marketed, of course): "Little Secrets." In-friggin'-credible. So cheeky, so catchy.



The second cut comes courtesy of a group that may or may not be the act I most want to bring to Dartmouth College: Keys 'n' Krates. Watch them remix A Tribe Called Quest live (below). Jr. Flo is nasty on the decks and the rest of the band ain't half bad, either. So, so good. (Y'all know I no longer post .mp3s, but keep your eyes peeled - this track's gonna hit the blogs quite soon.)

Grindin Top 15 - Ellie Goulding + R. Kelly + OJ Da Juiceman

For those of you that haven't heard, Grindin is a collection of bloggers that blog better than you. (In addition, many would lead you to believe that they can drink better than you, too.) Since the vast majority of these dudes and dudettes DJ, the ever-helpful Discobelle bros now compile a monthly Grindin Top 15 list. The first track y'all need to peep is one supported by Prince Will (the king of kings). I knew an R. Kelly track featuring OJ Da Juiceman would be excellent, but I never saw something this good coming:

Buffalo Loves Dubstep - Diplo Photo Recap

After having my couch-hotels bail on me at the last minute, I made the round trip to Buffalo and back (~3 hours each way) last night in a grand total of 12 hours from departure to my 6AM arrival back home. What burned me out more than anything wasn't the mind-bending bass-wonkage, but the fact that bars in Buffalo don't close until 4AM, meaning they don't even start going until 11-12. Arriving at 8:30 meant a lot of mediocre chinese food in a dirty room with a giant unicorn mural. That "half the fun is getting there" did not apply in my case.

Anyways, I'll let the photos (and video!) speak for themselves - Diplo absolutely killed it. His 3+ hour set consisted of at least a third dubstep and Buffalo went OFF on it. My other highlight was this efffing ridiculous live mix he did of Surfin' Bird to which this girl in front of the decks went apeshit with her hand gestures. Check it.

And, while we're on this dubstep mumbo jumbo, check this Them Jeans edit of Snoop Dogg Millionaire - you know, the song where Snoop copped a Chase and Status track and rapped over it. Them Jeans kicks the song into doubletime with some nice breakdowns - I've been digging it in my sets lately so I hope ya'll enjoy it.

Three 6 Mafia + Damaged Good$ + Dartmouth

Guys. Girls. Others. Three 6 Mafia is coming to Dartmouth. That's right - the men who brought you such hits as "Tear Da Club Up," "Who Run It," "Sippin' on Some Syrup," "Stay Fly," "Poppin' My Collar," "Side 2 Side," "Slob on My Knob," and "Doe Boy Fresh" (yea, I'm intentionally leaving out some of their more recent tracks) are gonna be playing to 475 (venue capacity) dorky rich kids in Hanover, New Hampshire on May 22, 2009. It's gonna be incredible. And in preparation for such an event, I've watched this video approximately twenty times in the past twenty four hours. Now I'm not saying you should do the same, but at least watch it once. Easily one of their top tracks.



What's more, the good dudes of Damaged Good$ (Dallas, Texas pride) will be opening for Triple 6 (I'll be DJing for them, too). Though I 100% prefer their "Ferris Bueller" to "Follow the Leader" (obviously I ride for the latter as well, but the former is just oh so, so good), I had to throw up the track with a proper video.
